FRONT COUNTRY PROBLEMS
BACK COUNTRY SOLUTIONS
WHAT WE DO
-
The Front Country Foundation empowers veterans through backcountry ski and snowboard education, instilling lasting skills, fostering connections, and prioritizing mental and physical health as part of suicide prevention.
-
We provide a week-long backcountry skiing/splitboarding training program called SHRED Therapy in the surrounding mountain ranges of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Shred Therapy’s design combines snow safety with essential backcountry skills, including map reading, terrain assessment, and uphill/downhill techniques.

Front Country offers the only program in the world to integrate internationally recognized avalanche training and certification (AIARE Level 1 ) into a veteran-centered backcountry experience. The program is built to fuel veteran’s natural instincts for challenge and rigor, provides transferable skills, and pathways toward future mountaineering and outdoor career opportunities all in a peer mentored environment led 100% by US vets.
-
Our specialized SHRED Therapy program is a vital reintegration tool for veterans, restoring purpose, camaraderie, and joy. We proactively address mental health concerns, including suicide prevention, recognizing it as a leading cause of death among veterans. Our goal is to support veterans in reclaiming purpose and connection through nature based therapy, regardless of financial, social, or logistical barriers.
